After West Allis/West Milwaukee School District informs WACMC
it will need its assigned space at the Franklin Field House
by the 2003-2004 school year, the Board of Directors begins
searching for a new home.

The "Moving On Out Building Fund" is launched to
raise funds to pay for the costs of moving, rental increase
and operational expenses.

"WACMC: In Light of Our 20th Anniversary," a 45-minute
documentary chronicling the birth, challenges and success
of community access television in West Allis, begins airing
on Channel 14; an article entitled, "How to Make an Impact
with a Live TV Auction," written by Executive Director
Mary Shanahan-Spanic, is published in Community Media Review,
a national publication.

Past and present board members and producers honor Mary Shanahan-Spanic
for 10 years of service as executive director at the 21st
annual WACMC membership meeting, the last WACMC event to be
held at the Franklin Field House.

West Allis community access television producers are honored
with a total of 18 awards, including three Excellence Awards,
at the fifth annual Wisconsin Association of Public, Educational
and Government Access Channels (WAPC) Video Festival, held
at the Pioneer Inn Resort in Oshkosh, WI.

Board of Directors chooses a site at 7210 W. Greenfield Ave.
in downtown West Allis as the new home of WACMC. Facilities
are designed as a two-level operation, with studio, control
room, editing suite and equipment checkout area located on
street level, and training/meeting room, playback area and
staff offices located on lower level.

Wistl of Wistl Construction of Pewaukee and owner of the building,
oversees the remodeling of new community media center throughout
the summer.

Wistl joins forces with Downtown Business Improvement District
(BID) and City of West Allis, which awards him a Façade
Improvement Grant, to restore the front of the building to
its original glory. The front entrance will feature four huge
picture windows offering a sweeping view of passing foot and
street traffic, and a spacious reception area leading into
the production facilities.
WACMC
volunteers pitch in to install phone, network and video cabling,
and assist with moving, unpacking, cleaning, organizing and
painting.
2003
Following construction of the new WACMC facilities in early
October, Artscape: The Rep at 50 becomes the first program
produced in the new studio. Other studio productions soon
follow.
2003
West Allis Mayor Jeanette Bell cuts the ribbon on the WACMC's
new home at 7210 W. Greenfield Ave. during an Open House on
Thursday evening, Nov. 6. The Open House attracts scores of
elected officials, business owners, WACMC board members, producers,
volunteers and staff. Festivities are cablecast live over
Channel 14. A new era in West Allis community television begins.
