| 2004 WACMC hosts numerous pre- and post-primary candidate forums,
which generate positive responses from viewers appreciative
of the opportunity to learn about candidates before heading
to the polls.
2004 West Allis community access television
producers are honored with a total of 14 awards, including
three Excellence Awards, at the sixth annual Wisconsin Association
of Public, Educational and Government Access Channels (WAPC)
Video Festival, held at the Ramada Inn in Eau Claire.
2004 John Ash and Mark Meddaugh of La Cuisine
du Garage on Channel 14 host a WACMC fundraiser at the studio,
complete with dinner, entertainment and cash bar. Benno’s
on Greenfield, County Beer and Liquor and Majdecki’s
Sentry make food and beverage donations to the event, which
raises more than $1,000 for the WACMC.
2004 WACMC hosts its annual Summer Youth
Media Camp. Over a two-week period, students learn the basics
of video production, and produce two half-hour programs and
three public service announcements focusing on teen-related
tops, including healthy eating versus contemporary media influences
and bullying.
2004 City officials hold a Community Ascertainment
at City Hall to give people the opportunity to express their
support for community access television in West Allis. A large
number of WACMC volunteers who share positive views with city
officials on the growth and importance of WACMC attend the
ascertainment.
2004 WACMC offers its first in a series
of documentary workshops, with filmmaker and Milwaukee native
Dennis Darmek. Many WACMC producers interested in the art
of documentary filmmaking attend the workshop.
2004 The 57th Alice in Dairyland, Betsy
Francoeur, visits Portraits & Promises on Channel 14 during
the holiday season to promote the “Something Special
from Wisconsin” gift-giving campaign.
2004 Santa Clause visited Channel 14 twice.
During the Downtown Business Improvement District Holiday
Stroll, Santa called the WACMC reception area home base. More
than one hundred children came to sit on his lap and share
their most private secrets. Each child received a stuffed
animal from Santa. We also hosted a “Live Santa Call
In”. West Allis Children had the opportunity to call
in and tell Santa what they want for Christmas.
