2007 WACMC celebrates its 25th anniversary with a Sunday brunch by Irene’s Catering at the Pettit National Ice Center. “Honoring the Stars of Our Own Silver Screen” includes a proclamation by West Allis Mayor Jeannette Bell, a silent auction, a program retrospective and entertainment by actor Bo Johnson. The event draws together past and present board members, volunteers and staff.
2007 WACMC, WAPC (Wisconsin Association of Public, Educational and Government Access Channels) and other organizations successfully lobby
the Wisconsin legislature to pass an amendment to continue funding access channels for three years. The amendment will keep open operations that
were threatened by a previous bill that would no longer require municipal franchises for telecommunications companies that have provided funding
for access operations for more than 25 years.
2007 WACMC is awarded two grants by the Nonprofit Management Fund,
a division of the Milwaukee Foundation. The first grant of $6500 is awarded
to conduct a strategic planning process; a second grant of $4500 is awarded
for the development of a fundraising plan.
2007 Women’s Club of West Allis presents the WACMC with a grant of $1000
for portable field production equipment; the WACMC also receives a donation
of $800 from the New Berlin Police Department.
2007 WACMC holds a trio of festive fundraising events, including the third annual Polka Chicken Dinner at historic Tanner Paull; and the “High Death Hellovision” Halloween costume party sponsored by M&I Bank and the Children with Santa photo session, both in its downtown West Allis facilities.
2007 Volunteer producers and staff are honored with 22 awards, including five “Awards of Excellence” at the ninth annual WAPC Video Awards Festival held
at the Sheraton Inn in Madison.
2007 Volunteer producers and staff cover a variety of popular community events, including the Wisconsin State Fair, West Allis “Arts a’ Fair,” and the Downtown West Allis Classic Car Show.
2007 The public affairs program Portraits & Promises welcomes a diverse slate of guests, from West Allis Mayor Jeannette Bell and singer/radio personality Cassandra McShepard to representatives from Milwaukee Public Theatre,
West Allis/West & Central Lions Club, Alzheimer’s Association, Big Brothers/
Big Sisters of Metro Milwaukee, Candy Cane Lane and the Community Alliance Against Drugs New Year’s Eve Family Night.
2007 WACMC celebrates the Christmas spirit by participating in the annual Downtown West Allis BID Holiday Stroll and West Allis Charities Christmas Parade, and by producing its ever-popular “Santa Call-in” shows.
