Producer's
Class
Trainer: WACMC Executive Director Mary Shanahan-Spanic
Prerequisites: West Allis Community Media Center membership
This introductory class teaches the basics of producing a video
production at the WACMC. (1 session)
Portable
Field Production (PFP)
Prerequisites: Producer's Class and a completed Program Planning
Outline Form. Learn how to create video projects with portable equipment:
cameras, tripods, lights, and microphones. Further discussion of
production aesthetics. No prior knowledge of camera use is required.
(3 sessions)
Non-Linear
Editing (Computer-based/digital)
Prerequisites: PFP Class. Completed taping, logging, and edit plan
of
first program. Students will learn the basics of editing on a computer-based
nonlinear edit system, the DPS Velocity. Logging, batch-capturing,
editing, audio, and computer graphics are among the topics covered.
(2 sessions)
Studio
Class
Prerequisites: Demonstrated knowledge of portable equipment, and
one
completed program. A hands-on class to develop and master studio
crew positions: camera operators, audio, lights, director, and character
generator. A third class is scheduled to provide training on a real
shoot. (3 sessions)
